Supporting Small Businesses: Staying Connected Through the Pandemic

If you've been following my journey as a small business owner, you've seen that I have been connecting with some pretty cool people who are either small business owners themselves or they run organizations that help small businesses out. I would like to spotlight a few of them so you can not only support us, but other small business owners as well. We sure appreciate any help you can give us during these unprecedented times.

Go Shop Local - Las Vegas is run by Ben Burkhalter and Maxine Ross, who were directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Las Vegas was hit very hard due to closures that were in effect for several weeks, which included the shut down of the Las Vegas Strip and Downtown Fremont Street. In that time period they decided to start their own marketing company and promote local small businesses. They have a fabulous holiday gift guide that we're featured in along with other local businesses. Here's the interview we did last weekend where we talked about our mutual love for pen and paper.

On November 29th I attended my first in person vendor event in several years, the Haul-iday Pop-Up Shop hosted by Javon Williams of JDenise Beauty, who sells her own line of lashes, lip glosses, and glitter. I made a video for both YouTube and TikTok that gives you a taste of how fun the event was. I was impressed by how Javon and her staff were well organized, followed social distancing protocols, and had a series of great raffle giveaways for everyone who attended.

LV Craft Shows is a vendor fair event that has been running for several years hosted by Susi Engl. Before the pandemic they hosted all their events in person, but they have moved to a virtual format. Through this new medium we have been able to reach more potential customers because not only are we reaching locals, we are also reaching people nationwide. Last weekend I participated in my first virtual vendor fair event and I had a blast! It was the first time I had presented my products in this way, and I look forward to doing it again this weekend on Saturday, December 19th at 10:00 a.m. PST on their website and Facebook page. Last week I presented my Schneider pens and this weekend I will talk about my Knock Knock stationery and gifts. You can watch last weekend's replay below. My segments are at 8:54-16:46 and 57:23-1:01:02.

And last, but not least, I would like to spotlight Vegas On Air, a new social media platform for small business owners and locals to make connections for free. I'm just getting familiar with the site and plan to post more often to get the word out there about my business and network with others. Again, it's another fantastic way to stay connected and build new relationships in our socially distanced world while staying safe at home.

I look forward to meeting as many of my new connections face to face by attending socially distanced in person events and beyond, when the pandemic is finally over. Thanks to everyone I mentioned for giving me an opportunity to promote my business! And a big thanks to all of you for supporting local businesses!
