Hello pen and paper lovers!
It's been a minute since I updated The High Roller Blog, but I'm excited to share my good news about The Change Exchange project by TJ Maxx with actress, comedian, and screenwriter Mindy Kaling, who is best known for playing Kelly Kapoor on the NBC sitcom The Office. She's partnered up with TJ Maxx to be a pen pal to a lucky recipient! It's also a way for women to connect with other women through handwritten letters or emails during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
I have personally not written a letter to someone by hand since I was a teenager in the 90s. Email and social media has replaced letter writing as our main form of communication. I chose the handwritten option because not only will it give me sense of nostalgia, but it's a lost art that needs to be revived. I'm sure whoever my pen pal will be would be glad to receive a letter by hand because it's much more personal and meaningful, in my humble opinion.
Here's the email I got from TJ Maxx confirming that they received my submission I sent a little while back and the kind of person who would be writing to me. They will also be sending my stationery kit like the one you see pictured here.
I'll be posting about my progress here on The High Roller as well as all my social media channels. I'm excited to get to know my new pen pal and developing a connection with her. In times like these we should keep in touch with familiar and new people however we can, whether it's through digital communication like Google Meet or Zoom meetings, email, social media, texts, or going back to our roots by rediscovering the art of hand writing.
